Moving Forward Together – A Message from Interim Co-CEOs

Dear Communities In Schools of Memphis Family,

As we begin this new chapter as Interim Co-CEOs, we are filled with gratitude—first and foremost, to Teshanda Middleton, whose leadership has built a strong foundation for CISM’s success. We also greatly appreciate the trust placed in us by the Board and, most importantly, the dedication and passion of our incredible team. Everyone’s commitment to being #AllinforYouth is what drives this work forward, and we are honored to continue leading alongside you.

With a combined 10 years at CISM, we step into this role not as new leaders, but as drivers of the mission we have long been committed to—Kelsey as Chief Operations & Financial Officer and Jessica as Chief of Staff & Strategy—deeply involved in the strategy, operations, and culture-building that have helped sustain and grow this organization. From financial oversight and infrastructure to program strategy and execution, we have worked to ensure CISM remains strong, impactful, and aligned with the needs of the students and families we serve.

More than 11,000 students and families are counting on us, and we remain optimistic and energized about the work ahead because of the strong foundation we have built together. As this academic year winds down, we aim to ensure a steady, seamless transition that prioritizes stability, continuity, and progress.

At CISM, we have always been firm believers that relationships matter most. That’s why we are committed to listening—to our Board, our partners, our students and families, and our staff. Your insights and expertise are invaluable as we look for opportunities to improve how we serve our community.

We encourage you to stay engaged with us through our newsletters, quarterly reports, and social media. These platforms not only highlight our progress but also share the powerful stories of students and families whose lives are transformed by this work.

We are honored to step into this role, humbled by the responsibility, and excited for what’s ahead. Together, we will continue making a difference!

With gratitude and commitment,

Kelsey Kenniel-Hardy & Jessica Pontoo
